In response to THE PLAT
I just read munzy's open letter to 3rd lair, and some of the comments people have been posting on it. This is in response to the general opinion of the skate park amongst skaters in minneapolis.
People need to know that asking the park to change isn't the answer. The reality of the fact is that people want somewhere to skate that has no kids, has brand new obstacles, and is free. That place simply doesn't, AND WON'T, exist. 3rd Lair will never be able to change to what people want it to be. What happened to people finding their own shit to skate? Before I worked for the park, we used to go downtown to a heated parking garage and skate a flat bar for hours. But I didn't expect SHIT from 3rd lair. I understand that there is a small group of people that really do deserve to skate for free... but this group is much smaller than the group of people that thinks they deserve to skate for free. I also know that some decisions that are out of my hands have destroyed the integrity of the skate park... which is bullshit. So I'm trying to be a mediator.
My opinion is that, instead of hoping that something will change to the way that you/we want it... maybe we should make something for ourselves. I think people are getting lazy and would rather hate 3rd Lair simply because it's the easy way out. The reality is that people should see 3rd Lair for what it is, and IT IS a business which IS SUPPOSED TO make money. People don't just walk into Familia or Cal and assume they will get free product. Maybe they hook up their team riders now and then when they have the financial ability to do so but 3rd Lair has it's own team riders to worry about.
Basically I'm writing this saying that people should look to something realistic. And expecting 3rd Lair to change isn't realistic.
THAT'S IT.

1 Comments:
I just want something new to skate, nothing more, nothing less. Whatever people want to do managerially is none of my business. Beyond that, I remember not having a skatepark in town back in the day, and that sucks dick, so let's not go there either.
